About

I'm Dr Sarah Wise, an associate professor in the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, under the Bartlett of University College London. I completed my PhD in the Department of Computational Social Science at George Mason University. I'm currently a Future Leaders Fellow working on simulating the spread of disease as a function of human behaviour and transport networks.

I'm interested in exploring and forecasting the development of systems involving people, infrastructure, and information using methodologies including agent based modelling (ABM), social network analysis (SNA), and geographic information systems (GIS). I'm a geospatial computational social scientist specialising in spatially explicit agent-based models (ABM), in particular behaviourally-influenced movement on networks.

I'm interested in using open and crowdsourced data, and particularly interested in application of these methods to social and urban issues. In my spare time, I like to attend Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team mapathons and help out with the Missing Maps project.
